Verne and his wife, Donna, have been married since 1974, and are the parents of eleven children and have thirty-three grandchildren. Verne is the President and CEO of Nu Acoustics, an acoustical contracting firm, which he founded in 1981. He was elected to the Board of Education for the Jurupa Unified School District in 1980 and re-elected in 1984, serving as the President of the Board in 1986. Verne was the Varsity Wrestling Coach at Rubidoux High School in Jurupa Valley for 15 years, from 1992 to 2007.
For more than 40 years he has worked with the Boy Scouts of America, receiving several distinguished recognitions. Verne worked in the California State Legislature starting in 1994 for Assemblyman Bruce Thompson. He later joined the staffs of Senator Ray Haynes and Senator Dennis Hollingsworth. Prior to his retirement in December of 2016, Verne served for twelve years as the Chief of Staff for Riverside County Supervisors Jeff Stone and Chuck Washington, and is currently a City Council-member of the City of Jurupa Valley.
